Yes, I have been neglecting my Tumblr.

Yes, I will begin writing again in 2012 (if you were wondering, that is).

See you in the new year.

Music Monday: Nina Simone - Feeling Good

Of all the artists I’ve exposed her to I pray my daughter learns to appreciate this woman. She’s regal, she’s talented, she’s beautiful, and she is one of my heroes. Although Funkier Than A Mosquito’s Tweeter is a (very) close second, this song remains my absolute favorite.

I like flaws and feel more comfortable around people who have them. I myself am made entirely of flaws, stitched together with good intentions.

Papa Moco Jumbie

I should’ve saved this for Music Monday, but I just couldn’t. It’s too great. My daughter gets the giggles whenever it comes on and I end up having it stuck in my head, much to my delight!

One day not too long ago, NuNu followed me around the house saying,”Elmo’s cold!” I was busy so I couldn’t do anything about it, but she came up with her own solution, the results of which can be seen in this photo.
As mothers, we’re often blamed for whatever goes wrong in our childrens’ lives. But when things go right, there are a million hands in the air to take credit. I love this picture because it’s proof that I’m making the right choices for my daughter. She does for her dolls what I do for her: when she’s cold, I wrap her in blankets. When she’s hungry, I feed her. And when she’s upset, I hold her and rub her back. And yes, I choose to bring people into her life to reinforce what she learns from me. This picture makes me feel like a good mother, and is all the validation I need that I’m doing a good job with my child.
DISCLAIMER: When NuNu is cold, I DO NOT wrap the blankets around her head. Someone else can take the blame for that :)

I’m taking some time off to adjust to turning the big 3-0 in January and to simultaneously plan two events that are happening very close to each other: NuNu’s christening and her 2nd birthday. I’m also trying to figure out how to protect my pictures so I can feel comfortable about posting them. But thank you for asking about me. I’m still keeping up with you, your entertaining blog and that beautiful girl. I’m also working on expanding my LendMe library so we can maybe exchange some Nookbooks :D

My little book worm :)

My little book worm :)

Do not let your fire go out, spark by irreplaceable spark in the hopeless swaps of the not-quite, the not-yet, and the not-at-all. Do not let the hero in your soul perish in lonely frustration for the life you deserved and have never been able to reach. The world you desire can be won. It exists.. it is real.. it is possible.. it’s yours.
